On the coast road from Belclare cross heading towards the Westport Quay area and adjacent to the fourth exit on the left hand side (near a new stone-faced house which is for sale), there is a 200m stretch where the road on the left hand lane way is showing serious and dangerous subsidence. This is alone the lien of the sewage system install by Mayo Co Co in 2003. This same stretch was patched up a few years ago following a similar complaint by me. Clearly, patching up is not adequate. A proper repair needs to be made this time. Cars (driven by persons who know the area) now typically move to the right hand lane when heading towards Westport. i walk this section of the costal route daily and it is common place to see unsuspecting drivers travelling too fast (for the road condition) and struggling to control their vehicle as this hit this section. Sooner or later someone will loose control off their vehicle and will mount the footpath with potentially significant consequences. I urgently request Mayo Co. Co to attend to this section and to do a competent repair this time around. Par spray and a few chipping is a mere cover-up job. The root problem needs to be addressed as part of this repair. The photos attached were taken 11 weeks ago. The road had deteriorated significantly since this date.
Any plans to address this issue?
